U
nfortunately, on-the-go parents cannot count on every public restroom having a changing table, and sometimes the most appropriate changing table is the backseat of your car. Here are some easy steps to changing a dirty diaper in the car.
Instructions
1Be prepared. Keep an extra diaper bag in the car at all times for emergencies. This should include a changing pad, wet wipes, diapers, plastic bags and a change of baby clothes.
2If it is warm outside, you can change the baby in the backseat, front seat or hatchback while you stand outside.
3If it is cold outside, you will need to sit in the front seat and place the baby in the seat next to you. You can also do this in the backseat if there is room with the car seat.
4Place a changing pad down underneath your baby so you don't have to worry about messes.
5Place dirty diapers and wipes in a plastic bag to be carried to the nearest garbage pail when you can. Also put any dirty clothes in another plastic bag to bring home and launder later.
6Be aware of drafts that may make your baby uncomfortable and fussy. Restock your car's diaper bag supply once a week or as needed.
- Make sure your car is in park, and never take your hand off your baby while changing diapers.
